Christmas layout begins

Last year I went with a simple oval based on the track size that came with my Lionel O scale set. It was a rush to build since we bought our Christmas tree late. This year, I wanted to do a layout which could be finished in place before we purchase a tree. So, I designed a dual teardrop shape or basically a squashed oval. The tree will go where the track pieces are and an insert piece will complete the front of the display. I raised the layout by using 1×3 blocks underneath in order to conceal all wiring.
